House editorial stylesheet
What we copyedit to unless a book's own stylesheet says otherwise. If you're preparing a manuscript for us, follow §1 and §2; §3 is what we do with the file once it arrives. Mechanics apply everywhere; voice and dialogue rules are for fiction; the notes-and-citations section (§6) is for nonfiction. Every project gets its own sheet derived from this one.
A style sheet in this sense is editorial: the decisions a copyeditor keeps while reading — serial comma or not, US or UK spelling, how dialogue is punctuated, which words stay capitalised. It is not the same thing as paragraph styles (Heading 1, Body Text), the named formats in the template we give an author. Styles shape how a book looks; a style sheet shapes how it reads.

This sheet is the studio's default. It is deliberately short: a stylesheet that nobody reads protects nothing. Project sheets add a word list, character/name registry, and per-title decisions on top of these rules. Questions and disagreements: j@djinna.com.
